How to get from Budapest to Eger?
You might be worried that you will not find your way to our lovely city. It is okay, we all have that fear but we have created this helpful article to make sure that you will not get lost.
From Budapest Airport
Upon your arrival to the international airport of Budapest, you have a few option to get to the center. The center can be reached with two bus lines.
200E:
From 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., bus number 200E commutes between Terminal 2 and the Kőbánya-Kispest metro terminal (metro line M3). From the Kőbánya-Kispest metro terminal, you can take the M3 metro to reach the Deák Ferenc tér stop in the inner city. From 11:00 p.m.to 1:00 a.m. bus 200E, from 1:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. night bus number 900 operates between Budapest Airport Terminal 2 and the South Pest bus garage. It is possible to change to night buses 950 and 950A, operating to the inner city.
100E:
As of 7 July, a direct bus line connecting the airport with the city center was introduced: the front-door 100E takes passengers to Deák tér. It leaves from Deák tér every thirty minutes from 04:00 to 23:30. The first bus leaves from the airport each morning at 05:00, and the last one at 0:30. Bus 100E stops at the BKK bus stop at the airport between the two terminals on the arrival level. Passengers may get off the bus going to Deák tér at Kálvin tér and at Astoria. Bus 100E going to the airport only stops at Kálvin tér, but the first two in the morning will also stop at the Astoria M bus stop.
Tickets
Attention! A special ticket must be purchased for bus 100E for HUF 900 – other tickets or season tickets are not valid for this service.
Tickets for public transportation priced 350 HUF are available at the airport from BKK at its customer service points, from the post office, the newsagents (Relay) and from ticket machines at the bus stop. It is also possible to purchase a ticket from the bus driver for 450 HUF.
The post office is located on the mezzanine level of Terminal 2A, where 24 and 72-hour, weekly and monthly travel passes for Budapest public transport are also available. Newsagents only sell single tickets, 10-piece ticket booklets and short section tickets. At the Tourist Information – Budapest Info Point counters located on the arrivals levels of Terminals 2A and 2B, 24, 48 and 72-hour Budapest Cards are also available, which, in addition to numerous discounts, offers unlimited use of public transportation during the period of validity.

To Eger
Assuming you are at Deák Ferenc tér station (If not, then please plan your trip to the stations to follow using the Journey planner, you can use both the train and the bus. First the bus: From Deák Ferenc tér, you have to take the M2 (red) line to get to Puskás Ferenc Stadion station. The bus station is just outside the station. For the train: From Deák Ferenc tér, you have to take the M2 (red) line to get to Keleti Pályaudvar station. The train station is straight ahead.

Once in Eger
The way to whatever accommodation you have is gonna be a 15min (from the bus station) or 20min (from the train station). It is preferable to take a taxi to your accommodation, as some places require you walk up many stairs. For the train station, the taxis are right outside. For the bus station, they are not frequently there, but a few hundred meters away there are many taxis.
For partners who will arrive by car
Eger is about 140 km from BUD Airport. You should follow the way to the M3 highway through M0 and M31.

In Eger you have to pay for parking in public parking spaces daily 8.00-17.00. Costs about: 180-360 HUF/h.
Information for all participants
In Hungary the tap water is drinkable and tasty. You needn't buy spring water in the supermarket.
Paying with EUR is not possible. You have to change HUF, but not in the airport, that is very expensive. In Hungary paying with card is accepted, in most of the shops. (1 EUR almost 330 HUF)

In Hungary the supermarkets are open everyday. Cigarettes can be purchased only in national tobacco shops (Nemzeti Dohánybolt), only if you are over 18. Smoking is only allowed in appointed places.
