Eger is a famous historic place, and is also the administrative centre of Heves Country, and the centre of the Eger wine region. It lies at the south-western foothills of the Bükk Mountains in the valley of the Eger Straem. Having a thousand years of history, this archiepiscopal centre with its bath, museums and a number of catering facilities awaits guests. Visitors can choose from various programs.

The historical importance and the wine culture melted together over the centuries.  The world famous vine producing region developed alongside the slope of the South-West part of the Bükk Mountains, between the Bükk and Mátra Mountains, in addition to the crossing of the Alfold and Northern Mountains area and brought Eger to its further fame. Our winemakers are proud of their traditional varieties work such as the Egri Bikavér, Egri Leányka and other distinguished quality wine from the region. Moreover, the town is also the cultural, educational as well as parochial center of Eastern Hungary. We can honestly state that those who are interested in our culture and history are able to find plenty of opportunities here.
