DIGITAL CITIZENS

Youth Workers’ Training and Networking Erasmus+ KA1 Project

The project will take place between

the 23-29. of April 2018 in Eger, Hungary.

Our Organization is

LOOKING FOR PARTNERS/PARTICIPANTS

from 9 organizations from 9 different EU countries. There will be 2 participants from each organization. The participants should be older than 18 years old and youth workers who work with volunteers in their organizations.

We are living in an era of democratic disconnect. Today, there is a widespread concern by EU about declining engagement in civic life; people are less inclined to vote, to join political parties, to campaign for social causes, or to trust political processes. Young people in particular are frequently described as alienated or apathetic.

Do we the civil society organizations motivate properly young people to be active citizens? Do we use the right tools? This training will focus on providing answers to these questions by forming an action plan that the organization involved will apply to inspire young people to participate in democracy more actively in all possible means. Special emphasis will be given to new media, and particularly the Internet, as a means of revitalizing civic life and democracy. Just as education has promoted democracy and economic growth, the Internet has the potential to benefit society as a whole. The main theme of the project will be the active citizenship in the digital era. The working method will be non-formal education.

The objectives to address the theme are:

  • To address the democratic disconnect using online techniques

  • To discuss and identify what motivates younger people to actively participate online

  • To develop communication techniques on social media that inspires young people to be active citizens
